Battle of the schools!

College life started a month ago.... so let's make some comparisons, shall we? Let the battle between PSDC and PCGHS begin!

Round 1 - Enviroment:
PCGHS - fans in classrooms, wooden/plastic chairs, no elevators or anything...
PSDC - air-con everywhere (except smoking area), waaaay more comfortable cushion chairs and elevators that has a sweet female voice going "going up! door closing! 2nd floor!"
Round 1: PSDC, the elevators are really interesting

Round 2 - Distance:-
PCGHS - 30mins - 45mins (depending on traffic - mostly busy) from my house.
PSDC - 5mins - 10mins (not much traffic) from my house.
Round 2: PSDC

Round 3 - Lessons length:-
PCGHS - about 5 hours and a half per day - if EST is included then an extra 2 hours per week, 5 days per week (not including co-corricular act.)
PSDC - 4 days per week (NO co-corricular act.), 23 hours and a half per week (6 hours less)...
Round 3: PSDC

Round 4 - Break length:-
PCGHS - 20 mins recess...
PSDC - Monday - 1 hour and a half, Tuesday - 2 hours, Wednesday - 1 hour and a half, Thursday - 15 mins.
Round 4 - PSDC (hands down!)

Round 5 - Subjects studied:-
PCGHS - 11 subjects... (for form 4 & 5, that is..)
PSDC - 5 subjects... (for this semester)
Round 5 - definately PSDC

Round 6 - Exams, projects, assignments, tests... etc
PCGHS - 2 Exams, 2 tests, lots of homework (mostly finish in school), a couple of projects...
PSDC - 2 Exams, several tests, endless quizes (graded & non-graded), not much homework, a couple of projects... (almost every week there's 2 quizes/exams/tests...)
Round 6 - PCGHS!!! (ya, i prefer more homework than tests, thank you very much!)

Round 7 - Staff & Teachers/ Lecturers...
PCGHS - Staff..... haiz.... need we say more? Teachers, some are great, some are good, some are well.... you know...
PSDC - Staff... so far so good... Lecturers, generally good... :)
Round 7 - Staff - PSDC, Teachers/Lecturers - Tie...

Round 8 - Rules and Regulations...
PCGHS - I wondered how I survived... not long yet not too short hair, short nails, clip your pinafore (even if you can barely fit in), clip that 'pas keluar' (out-of class pass that looks like you're in prison), MUST not order food if there's 5 mins left in recess (even though you are certain you can finish it in like 30 seconds and dying of hunger), eating with the canteen warden muttering in your ear - please eat faster and go back to class..., line-up no matter where you go, no handphone, no iPod, not even thumbdrives (unless you give a VERY good reason why or apply to the discipline section), must arrive in class before bell rings or before the prefect leaves (whichever first) to mark your attendance if not you're late, 3 times you're late, detention!
PSDC - I'm practically at home... hair any-length, any-colour! no need any pass... no canteen wardens.. no need to line up as long as you show up in time... handphone, iPod everything is allowed! Arrive in time or rather within 15 mins after class starts, after 15 mins you're late, after 30 mins you're absent.
Round 8 - PSDC, of course! At least I don't feel like a convict.

Round 9 - Uniform
PCGHS - clipped light blue pinafore with white (specifically female) shirt, white socks (not too long, not too short), white perfectly tied shoes with equally white shoelaces (specifically more than 6 holes), your student ID and the school logo sewn on the upper left hand corner (not too high not too low), your form's ribbon (to state whether which form you are in) with colours that don't match the whole thing at all...
PSDC - any clothes that are not sleveless or too revealing with long pants or not too short skirts with your student ID badge.
Round 9 - PSDC, at least I don't look like a duplicate or horrified with nightmares where everyone looks alike.

Round 10 - Notes/Textbooks/cards....
PCGHS - lots of textbooks, exercise books, green card, white card, yellow card (ring a bell anyone?).
PSDC - Bring your notes, some papers, only 1 textbook.
Round 10 - PSDC

Round 11 - Accuracy of notes, textbooks etc
PCGHS - mostly correct, either that or you are the one who copied wrongly.
PSDC - most of the slides (which are from MMU) have grammar/spelling mistakes... The english textbook (also from MMU) has like 2 errors per page!
Round 11 - PCGHS (although it's more of MMU's fault rather than PSDC)

Round 12 - Food...
PCGHS - hawker delights... Hokkien Mee (Prawn Mee), Nasi Lemak, Fried Kuay Teow, Economy Rice and different varieties of drinks. Usually spend between RM2 til RM4, and you'll get a decent meal.
PSDC - fried rice, chicken rice, waffle, with only 1 hawker dish that sells faster than hot pancakes... Budget: RM3 - RM4.50 (not including drinks, even though skyjuice is free)
Round 12 - PCGHS!!! I miss the Fried Kuay Teow a lot!!!!!

Round 13 - Exercise...
PCGHS - from a class to another is soooo far as there's 3 blocks, 3-5 floors per block... plus if you're in a hurry, pure joy! You are also forced to do sit-ups/ pumping/ running/ jumping/ sports/ marching etc in P.E., house practice and co-corricular act.
PSDC - no jumping, running or sports in any sorts. No exercise needed at all, since there's an elevator and the blocks are quite near to each other.
Round 13 - PCGHS!!! We NEED exercise, I forgot how to sweat!

Round 14 - Class Length...
PCGHS - 35 mins (I think) per class or max. 1 hour during lab session.
PSDC - 3 hours lecture, 1 hour and a half for tutorial...
Round 14 - PCGHS! 3 hours is too long for 1 subject.

End result... PCGHS - 5, PSDC - 9. 1 tie. But to be fair, I don't follow a lot of rules in PCGHS and it's not like I finish many of my homework so actually it should be PCGHS - 7, PSDC - 7, 1 tie. SO.... in conclusion, the comparison doesn't make much a difference as both are quite good although it's in diffent aspects... ;P

Gotta go to PSDC now... Ms. Annie's class starting in 25mins.... BYE!

Hugs, muaks and looooots of kisses,

World Cup, anyone?

Yea... apparently I got hooked too.... I was actually rooting for Brazil before the World Cup... until I watch Brazil vs Ghana match... no doubt they won (3-0) but they did so badly compared to before, so I sorta gave up on them... -.-" Later, I watch Germany vs Argentina match, started to support them... (Germany won... 1-1, pen. 4-2) Then I watch France vs Portugal, support France of course, especially because Zinedine Zidane (Zizou) was there... They won too... 1-0 (Zid scored penalty).

This morning (2am) Zid scored penalty again in early 7 mins. Later Italy head in a goal... Zid almost head in another one until it was saved by the goalie of course... -.-" Then Zid hurt his shoulder, they went in for extra time... about 15-20 mins after, I couldn't believe what Zid did....

That's right he 'head' that giant of a man (compared to him, that is...) Is it just me, or that don't happen often? His strength must have been big to cause him to fall like that... Of course, in the replay, they show that Zid was been bugged by him kept blocking his way and stuff... Then Zid just lost his cool.... Of course he then got a red card (d-uh!) I was at the mamak stall watching this with my father... Almost everyone cheered (yep, including my dad) when Zid saw red... Can't stop thinking about the same thing happen to Rooney...

Later, the whole match practically slowed down (in my opinion, both Italy and France)... then they went to penalty... (warning! not suitable for the weak-hearted... -.-") I sorta predicted France will lose... no offence to Barthez here, but he's nothing compared to Italy's goalie.. also France's strikers were either benching or well, Zid.. Italy won, of course... 5-3 pen.

I'm still shocked over what Zid did... To me, he always looked calm, cool... modest is most ways... but how can he lose his cool like that??? I suddenly thought of a cantonese saying.... "Fat doh yau foh..." (Even a nice person can get mad) Oh well, for now... hopefully the France team will cheer up.... after all, they did do a great job...

Wonder how's Paris now? Eiffel Tower still lighting up?

Cheers.
Mel.

I'll be there for you... cause you're there for me too!

So, for now, I'm free as a bird. I'm not working, not studying. Basically just watching television and playing online games! ;P I just finish watching 10 seasons of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. In case you don't know, my brother, sister and myself are all fans of FRIENDS. My brother bought the complete 10 seasons of FRIENDS dvd and pass it to me when he came back last month. The last dvd includes some special features like Behind-the-scenes, Friends of F.R.I.E.N.D.S., Gag Reels, FRIENDS around the world.

The Behind-the-scenes is really cool. Every episode is suppose to be exactly 22 minutes. But their work is like several weeks of hard work for every episode. They start off by coming out with draft then the writers (15 of them!) add some stuff, give some ideas etc. Then the art department sets the setting (the apartments, Centrel Perk etc). Then the lighting gets ready. They let the actors played it once, while they make sure whether or not it sounds as funny as it is in their head. If not, they are going to rewrite it. Meanwhile, there will be 4 cameras in each scene. They played it in front of 300+ audiences, make sure they will find it funny. If not, they rewrite the joke on that spot. The actors will straight away try it out. After that, they'll send the films to edit. Think on which angle they prefer from what the 4 cameras took. If the audiences' response is too big, they'll have to cut it down. They'll also add in the foley, which is 2 people doing the sound effects for FRIENDS. (cause some effects can't be heard clearly) Then they add in the music editing. Then only they publish it. THAT'S one crazy ride. -.-" I never knew there's sooo much work. I mean, I know there's some work, but OMG! Imagine doing the sequence for like 240 times! :o Even the tiny details, they never left out. Like the set-up guy says that they change the stuff in the counter (in Centrel Perk) every 3-4 episodes, cause there's no coffeeshop that stays stagnent. I mean, that's the kind of specific things lots of audience will left out, but still they did it anyway!

The friends of FRIENDS includes a short interview for some actors who've been on FRIENDS before. The one I really like is Janice and Estelle. Janice is the character of Chandler's on-and-off unbelievably annoying girlfriend. The actress - Maggie Wheeler, however, is very different. (the voice, especially) Apparently originally she didn't have that infamous 'OMG' or annoying laugh, but the 1st scene she did with chandler, she just have to laugh, so therefore she let out this infamous laugh. lol She seemed to really enjoy the fact that she can bring surprises to the series. Like there's one scene where she spent the night with Ross, no one ever expected that, when she turned up, the audience went on for like 5 minutes. lol For Estelle, she's another fun character I really enjoyed. She's Joey's agent, she's a little crazy, can't stop smoking and man, I love that voice! lol Like Maggie, June Gable who plays Estelle, sounds nothing like her character. She said when she came in for the audition, she came as herself, practically bored them. They told her to get out and come out with something outrageous. And well, she came back with a wig, lots of make-up and a bunch of cigarettes.

As for FRIENDS around the world, it shows you that in Japan, Sweden and Germany, there's actors that dubbed FRIENDS. It's soooo hilarious watching it in different language. I think it's more tough for them, cause the joke in english most probably won't make sense in other language. So they have to change it but not too much, to let it make sense to their audience. Plus it's a challenge for them for do the exact enthusiasm and perfect timing.

My favourite part of the Special Features is Gag Reels. Gag Reels is like in HK, they call it NG (No Good). In FRIENDS, it's even more trickier for the actors, cause there's 300+ people watching them, laughing at their jokes while they are trying to keep a straight face. So basically, I can categorize them into 4 categories. 1st one is the one where they babbles, the type where you just can't get the line to work out. 2nd one is the one where they can't stop laughing. 3rd one is the one where they forget their lines, it's funny to watch them continue to act when they say:'' what's my line?" It really cracks me up. 4th one is for the rest, like there's one part where Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox are already acting half-way, then the director guys say:'' and..... Action!" and then Jennifer goes:'' I'm sorry, I thought we were already acting'' lol Unlike movies though (where they usually give you 5 minutes of Gag Reels), FRIENDS give you 31 minutes! Nice, huh?

What you've been waiting for....

Haylo… me again! (d-uh!) Ya, I promised you people a blog entry 2 months ago (just as I promised a lot of other stuff)… Regret believing in me, don’t you! HA! -.-“ (getting nutty these days….)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Interesting, eh? See the HUGE difference between forecast and SPM???? See the HUGE difference between my SCHOOL’s standards and the GOVERNMENT’s standards???? So I’d say to my juniors:” don’t bother trusting our school standards, cause they’re too nuts…” -.-“

You know what I’ve been thinking earlier before today? I was hardly worried (no, I’m not proud or whatever)… Cause I have a habit which I did everytime before I get my results. I’ll think of what I think I WILL get according to how hard I think my test papers are. Then I think of what’s the WORST, like lower a grade from the ones I thought of earlier… I’ll also think of what I HOPE I’ll get… (trying to make it realistic, so I won’t get too bummed out if I don’t) Of course, sometimes I’ll think of results that I think I’ll NEVER get (for better or worse), but just in case, I’ll be prepared for it. Seems to you I’m thinking too much, is it? Ya, I know. But seriously, it helps me to be calm regardless of what result I will get…

Example: Yesterday I freaked out thinking what happen if I don’t get A for English (cause I did REALLY bad at my essay if you would recall in my earlier post ‘
Broke my promise…’), so when I didn’t get A for EST today, I was comparatively calm. How I react was kept on asking why (cause I can’t think of a reason why my EST is worse than my English) instead of how I would react IF I’m not prepared like freaking out, kept on jumping like a crazy kangaroo who had too many drinks or possibly shouting in different languages.

Anyway, yesterday I realized something… I never saw my own results before anyone tell me. Seriously, so I never experienced the anxiety or what nots. Cause in UPSR (Primary gov. exam), my teacher think that if ALL the students crowd at the results, there’s gonna be some major accidents. So ended up she telling us our results, I remembering jumping up and shouted hooray when I heard that I got 5 As. Then in PMR (lower Secondary gov. exam), before I saw my results, my godsister, Winter, called me and told me my results, which was similar to hers. I responded in a rather calm way even though my results is what people considered bad cause I’m too busy comforting her to ‘mourn’ over my own result. So now, my friend who was 3 years younger than me, SMS me I know your result already, I have to SMS her back:’’ I wanna see my own result’’ When I reach the school hall, my ‘ex-grandma’ rojak came to me, saying:’’ Melody, you got a lot of…’’ Before she finishes her sentence, I have to cut her off by saying:’’ Don’t say my result, I wanna see it myself.’’ So, finally, this time was the only time I got to see my result before somebody blurted it out, turns out I reacted very calm.

I counted the As first, because of Rojak’s claim. The first thing I realized is 5 As (bit disappointed to be honest, cause a tiny part of me thought I might get 6 As). Then came the 1st shock, I saw the 2nd last subject on the result slip – EST 3B! Then I thought if that’s so, then which subject did I get an A for? I check – English (duh! And Thank God), Maths (if not, I’m not Chinese and my dad WILL kill me), Econs (if not, I WILL kill myself), IT (sorta happy and expected) then…. 1119 English? Nope, that I got 3B. Science – 2A…. SCIENCE??????? Allow me to quote what I was writing in my blog entry – ‘
Broke my promise........’.

- I must admit I didn't read science AT ALL [I felt so sorry to my teacher for
letting her down now.... :(] cause I'm too busy memorizing my Moral notes....
That's because I think I have better chance in surviving my science paper than
my moral paper without reading... -.-" …………. Anyway, the science paper is not so
bad either, but I'm sure I won't get an A (d-uh! I didn't read, remember?)
However, a B4 is enough to make me smiling for weeks (crossing my fingers now!)

Then I realized something I was worried about – my Malay... Cause in Malaysia, if you DON’T have a CREDIT in Malay, it’s like failing ALL your OTHER papers. Back then, I thought it’s hard to pass let less to say get a credit, but turns out, everything’s possible with God! I got 6C (which means I ALMOST miss the credit). Then I checked my other results – Moral 3B, then I remembered I just memorized half of the moral values not even all of it a day before the exam (also that I didn’t studied Science because of Moral – so means 1 stone kill 2 birds!). History – 6C, to me, that’s great, cause I’m ALWAYS lousy at History… then Add Math – 7D. The only D… I’m still happy that I passed – proves that what my teacher said that if you get 10+ in school exam you passed is true. Plus I was worried before that E would look bad, at least D looks better… -.-“ Although my mom and dad still can’t get over the fact that the whole family got 1A for Add Math but I have 7D… -.-“ Chinese – 3B, very good, I’d say. Cause my friends told me the standards of Chinese is much harder than other subjects, and my Chinese is so lousy that people wondered if I study Chinese at all…. They kept calling me ‘Banana’ (foreigner).

That’s all for the SPM Result Report, I got to go before I’m late for my celebration dinner with my family. Ciao!

Hugs, muaks and looooooooots of *stars*,

Of lots of stuff....

Yeah, I know... haven't been updating for like a month now... Sorry... gomenasai... Maaf... 对不起... dui nm ju.. etc... Blame it to my lazy nature... So now I'm gonna give you a whole month's update! So be prepared that it's gonna be a looooooooooooooooooooooooong blog!! But then again, to prevent you from being bored, I'll seperate it into different parts! See how considerate I am??? (more like lazy, that's what!) ;P

- Of Tasks and Events -
Ok, let's see... In this month which task did i accomplish??
1. Watched Cronicles of Narnia with my family... :D (Tilda/White Witch is so cool.. ;P)
2. Abandoned Aeon Flux after I saw the review: Aeon SUX... -.-''
3. Went to BBQ at YX's house... :D
4. Steamboat still not confirmed, cause Jia Soong is in National Service now... :(
5. Went out to Secret Recipe with my ex-teacher and Riceball Family.. :D
6. BBQ at May Yee's house - cancelled, I think... :(
7. Watch movies with season sisters - still not confirm
8. MY BIRTHDAY!!! with my family... :D
9. Christmas celebration celebrated twice... at Rifle Range/23rd Dec... at CCOP (my church)/24th Dec... :D
10. visit to Seong Leng's house - not confirmed
11. visit my uncle and cousin in Sarawak - no time so cancelled
12. Spring cleaning... well..... I started... but don't plan to finish, at least not when I don't have 'form'... -.-"
13. Training to be Kindergarten helper... principal's not there + been having flu so can't attend
14. As of 3rd Jan 2006, I'm officially a Kindergarten helper!! :D
15. Memoirs of a Geisha is not in the cinemas yet....
16. CNY is not here either...

- Of books -
As for the tasks in my To-do list, I haven't started aside from finishing a book and buying 3 more... -.-" I brought The Cronicles of Narnia (Full Version) by C.S.Lewis, it's a bit long (d-uh! It's actually a 7-in-1 book, so I doubt I'll finish it soon or rather find the time and energy to read it). I also brought Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden (yeah, the movie's from the novel for those who don't know that already), I finished reading that already! :D Oh my gosh! It's 502 pages long plus the font is like this small, I think I just broke my record.. -.-" I brought Origins of Chinese Culture. It's like a comic and some narration to explain the facts, I have a dozen of these kind of comics! :D I also brought The Nannies by Melody Mayer today, no! I did not buy it because the author shared the same name with me! >P (Although that is what caught my attention at first.... -.-")

- Of Movies and Series -
Oh and I've also watched quite some series, Legendary Fok (from 1980s - Michelle's series), Reaching Out (also Michelle's series, it has 50 episodes, so I basically just seen Michelle's parts), Rainbow Connection (Michelle again! ;P), Miu Chui Fa/ Lady Flower Fist (hilarious series by Esther Kwan and Kong Wah), Healing Hands 3 (Melissa's series - 40 eps). I still have:

1. My Family 甜孙爷爷 (20 episodes, just watched 1 episode and stopped)
2. War of the in-Laws 我的野蛮奶奶 (20 eps, watched 11 eps and stopped after TVB Anniversary got me so angry at Liza Wang and Myolie Wu, read my previous blog - I HATE TVB to know why...
3. The Prince's Shadow 御用贤人 (20 eps, watched 4 eps I think, stopped cause lazy... -.-")
4. Revolving Doors of Vengence 酒店风云 (30 eps, haven't started... cause want to finish others first)
5. A Taste of Love 美味情缘 (25 eps, watching ep7 now, ya, i know it's n-years back)
6. Duke of Mount Deer 2000 小宝与康熙 (24 eps, haven't started... watch later bit lazy)
7. The Gateau Affair 情迷黑森林 (20 eps, haven't started... because of Myolie )
8. The 10 Brothers 十兄弟 (20 eps, haven't started... not with me)
9. The Beautiful Duckling 后天美女 (20 eps, stuck at ep5, cause Taiwan movie.. so bored... with their lousy acting and silly plot... -.-")
There's still plenty more series, but i'll just stop here first. So after calculating i have about 170+ eps to watch.... nice... -.-"
As for the movies, I'm now waiting for:
1. Memoirs of a Geisha (Michelle's in it), but I have a feeling I'll be dissapointed from the negative reviews.... BUT there's still no doubt I'll love seeing Mameha (Michelle's character)! ;P
2. Fearless (Michelle WAS in it!) What do i mean by WAS? well, she was in it (guest-starred), but according to MYWT, the director think it's too long so edited the movie by cutting out some scenes including Michelle's!!! grr.... So now that Michelle WAS and not IS in it, I WAS looking forward but no longer IS!!!! >(
3. The 3rd Generation (no, Michelle's not in it) You might be thinking What's that! Well, it's a Malaysian production (not very appealing, huh?) It's in Chinese (not appealing either, eh?) Set in olden days (you're thinking do i even have a point, huh?) It has Amber Chia.. (AH! I see where you're going!) If you're thinking:" Ain't she a model and NOT an actress?" Yup! But now she's officially model-cum-actress! Aaaahh...... but actually I'm curious nia la.. most probably won't watch it in the cinema... cuz not worth it, unless it got GREAT reviews...

To be continued....

Hugs, muaks and looooooots of *stars*,
